The Pitons du Carbet form a mountain range with a maximum height of 1196  m , which is located north of the capital Fort-de-France on Martinique . The Piton du Carbet are thus the third highest elevation in Martinique.

From the area northeast of Fort-de-France with the municipalities of Saint-Joseph and Gros-Morne , the soaring mountains, mostly covered by clouds, form an impressive backdrop. The mountains are overgrown with dense tropical rainforest at lower altitudes, which increasingly gives way to high-altitude vegetation (hip to shoulder-high grass and bushes) at higher altitudes.

The mountain range consists of the following individual mountains:

  • Piton Lacroix 1196  m , (most westerly)
  • Piton Dumauzé 1109  m , (southeastern tip)
  • Piton de l'Alma 1105  m , (southeastern tip)
  • Piton Boucher 1069  m (northeast point)
