Placenta is a German metal / death metal group from Berlin .

history

Placenta was founded in 2000 by Tobias Stein, Jens Fischer and Matthias Engst as a punk and alternative rock band in Berlin. The polarizing band name was chosen to express rebellion and provocation. In 2003 the group recorded their first demo album, Look So Far . In 2004 Matthias Engst left the band for personal reasons.

The personal development also drove the musical development of the band, which showed itself in 2006 in the demo EP No More Fucking Compromises ... and in 2007 with the demo album Human Abyss with a clear tendency towards Death Metal . With the entry of Sven Berlin on vocals in 2005, as well as guitarists Michael Hoge from Dropped and Florin Kerber, the line-up and the musical direction became more concrete. In 2009 the band signed with the German newcomer label NOIZGATE RECORDS and then released their first official release Fixed Action Pattern . With the EP Brutalis , the Berliners expanded their sound towards deathcore in 2010 . In spring 2011 the first Germany / Europe tour with Disposed to Mirth took place. Another tour followed with the Polish deathcore band Drown My Da . In September 2011 the album Replace Your Face was released , on which the band stylistically went back to their rock roots. In December 2013 the album Missgunst und Neid was released , on which German lyrics were used for the first time. At the same time, bassist Florin Kerber left the band in order to be able to concentrate on his new project Dinosound . He was replaced by Axel Goldmann. In 2015 the band released the best-of-album XV - Greatest Hits, which is a compilation of their 15-year-old work and two new songs. The band has been on a creative break since 2016. While Axel is active on We Butter The Bread With Butter , Florin and Daniel play on Dinosound . Tobi and Micha play at Navocane , Tobi is also active at Musikcafé Karibik .

The band calls their music Honic Melonic Death Metal .
