Staircase

The station designed by Patrice Gauthier was created in the form of a tunnel station . Since it has two entrances at opposite ends of the platforms, the architect highlighted this feature in color. In the southern part of the station, red predominates, in the northern part blue. This color scheme was also used for the decorative curved concrete elements and the walls of the distribution levels. Other decorative elements include back-lit glass tiles, floors with different tile patterns and the use of lots of chrome steel . The southern entrance is in a free-standing glass pavilion , the northern one is integrated into a block of flats.

The platform level with two side platforms is located at a depth of 23.8 meters . The distances to the neighboring stations, measured from station end to station start, are 988.47 meters to Namur and 451.10 meters to Côte-Sainte-Catherine . There are connections to three bus routes and two night bus routes operated by the Société de transport de Montréal .

history

The station opened on June 29, 1982, along with the short section from Côte-Sainte-Catherine. For a little over a year and a half, Plamondon was the western terminus of the orange line until it was extended to Du Collège on January 9, 1984 . It is named after Avenue Plamondon. It is not certain who this street was named after. It is either the painter Antoine Plamondon (1804–1895) or the singer Rodolphe Plamondon (1875–1940).
