A distribution level in a building is a floor that is used solely for the horizontal reception and distribution of people or goods to and from vertically accessible locations.

Distribution levels can be found in parking garages , airports , train stations and similar stop constellations, including in the subway sector. Here the distribution level serves the purpose of getting people out of traffic into zones that are likely to be safer. A side effect is the enlargement of the living space and possibly the sales area as well as possibly additional entrances to the basements of department stores .
