Planetary table

Planet table for 2007

A planet table is a graphic that can be used to graphically illustrate the movement of the sun , the planets and, if necessary, the moon and minor planets over a certain period of time. With a planetary table, one axis of the diagram always contains a time value. The right ascension, ecliptical length or solar elongation can be found on the other axis.

A representation of the declination or ecliptical latitude is usually dispensed with in the case of planet tables, as this would usually make the graphics more confusing and the planets are always only in the vicinity of the ecliptic. Planet tables are used to obtain an overview of the movement of the celestial bodies over the course of a year. They are in no way intended to replace a more detailed description. A planetary table is not to be confused with an ephemeris .
