Ulica Planty 5a is a listed building in Radom in the Masovian Voivodeship in Poland . The former public bath was built in 1924–1926. The building is located in the Planty district not far from the former location of the Fabryka Broni arms factory and the train station.

history

The arms factory in Radom was founded in 1922 and taken over by the young Polish state in 1927. In the years from 1923 to 1931 a new housing estate for employees and workers was built in the south of the city. Stefan Szyller was one of the architects . A bathhouse ( Polish : dom łaźni) was built in the center of the green belt on Planty Street, as the apartment blocks of that time often had neither showers nor bathtubs. At a later date, the city took over the property as the municipal baths (łaźni miejskiej). During the socialist period between 1945 and 1989, Planty Street was nicknamed “im. Bohaterów Stalingradu ” (in honor of the heroes of Stalingrad) .

The building has not been renovated and is currently in poor condition (as of autumn 2018).

The property was placed under protection in 2015 and entered in the voivodeship's list of monuments under the number 202/2015.

description

The building is a one and a half story structure. The floor plan and roof are symmetrical. The roof is lavishly designed as a mansard and crooked hip roof .
