Jörg Plassen
Jörg Plassen is a German Koreanist.
Life
He received the Dr. phil. at the University of Hamburg . From 2008 to 2009 he was Professor (W2) for Korean Studies in Hamburg . He teaches as a professor for religions of East Asia at the Ruhr University in Bochum .
His research focuses on earlier Korean Hwaŏm and Samnon Buddhism in an East Asian context, literary and pragmatic dimensions of Buddhist commentary literature (especially writing and reading as spiritual practices), religious transfer processes (especially sinification of Buddhism , interactions between Buddhism and Taoism / Hsüan hsüeh, Buddho-Confucian Interactions in Korea).
