Marion Eggert

Marion Eggert (born December 6, 1962 in Munich ) is a German Koreanist .

Life

Marion Eggert studied Sinology , Ethnology , Japanology and, in self-study , Korean Studies in Japan , China and Korea , among others . She held a post-doctoral fellowship at the Korea Institute of Harvard University in the USA . She completed her habilitation in 1998 at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and has been Professor of Korean Studies at the University of Bochum since 1999 . In 1991 she received the translation award of the Korean Culture and Arts Foundation and in 1996 for her dissertationthe Max Weber Prize of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences on Chinese dream conceptions .

In 2019 Eggert was elected to the Academia Europaea .

She is married to the Korean sculptor and painter Kang Jinmo .
