Plastic Tree , also known as プ ラ ス テ ィ ッ ク ・ ト ゥ リ ー (or derived from it PuraTuri ), is a J-rock band that was formed in Chiba , Japan in the early 1990s .

biography

Plastic Tree made their debut in May 1995 and released their first mini-album Kimyou na Kajitsu: Strange Fruits on December 11th of the same year, after two drummer changes had already taken place.

Their first single followed two years later with 割 れ た 窓 (Wareta Mado) at Warner Music Japan , which made them a major band.

Plastic Tree follow a steady rhythm over the years and tours that also took them to Europe. In 2006 they played for the first time as part of the Chandelier Tour in France, Finland and Germany. The band announces their third appearance at Nippon Budokanan on August 13, 2010 after switching to the Takuma JAPAN Communications label .

music

Plastic Tree's music was influenced by British bands like Radiohead and The Cure . Rumor has it that her name comes from the Radiohead song Fake Plastic Trees . In an interview, Ryuutarou answered the question if he had been stranded on a desert island and was only allowed to have one album with him, which would be the answer " Pablo Honey from Radiohead."

Musically, the band can be classified between rock and pop and went through various changes. Her music is shaped by Ryuutarou's distinctive voice and his lyrics. Before the album Träumerei , almost all songs were written by Tadashi and texted by Ryuutarou. Today most of the songs are a collaboration between Akira and Ryuutarou.

Fan club

While Plastic Tree were under contract with Sweetheart, their fan club was called "Sickroom". When they switched to the J-Rock label, they opened a new fan club called "Jelly Fish Breed".
