PlayZone (up to issue 04/2000 PlayStation Zone ) was a German video game magazine that reported exclusively on games for Sony game consoles . The magazine was published by Computec Media in Fürth . PlayZone appeared monthly, usually on the penultimate Wednesday of the previous month, and had about 100 pages per issue. The PlayZone was discontinued after the 01/08 issue.

  • Current hardware ideas (console accessories)
  • Tips and cheats for current games
  • A different top 10 every month (new since issue 06/07)
  • Blu-ray films of interest to gamers (new since issue 06/07)

Booklet DVD

DVD type: DVD-10 (both sides of the DVD are written with a maximum of 4.7 GB of data each)
The data carrier enclosed with the booklet contained preview and test videos as well as trailers for current video games.

Scoring system

A simple scoring system was used for the game tests. In addition to the individual ratings for:

  • control
  • graphic
  • Sound

an overall rating for the single player mode and / or for the multiplayer mode was given in percent. These percentages did not correspond to the average of the individual ratings.

Awards

PlayZone gave awards for

  • the game of the month
  • a single player hit (for games with a single player rating of 85 points or more)
  • a multiplayer hit (for games with a multiplayer rating of 85 points or more)

Circulation statistics

In the third quarter of 2007, the average monthly circulation according to IVW was 19,524 copies. That is 21.3 percent (= 5,273) fewer issues than in the same quarter of the previous year. The number of subscribers fell within a year by 20.8 percent to 4,535 subscribers. Most recently, 23.2 percent of readers received the magazine by subscription. The IVW did not have any data for the last sales quarter IV / 2007.
