The beach of La Concha ( Basque Kontxa Hondartza , Spanish Playa de La Concha ) is a bathing beach in the bay of La Concha (German: the shell ), whose name comes from its striking shape. It is one of the most famous city beaches in Europe.
location
The beach is located on the outskirts of San Sebastián in the Spanish autonomous community of Basque Country and about 20 km west of the French border in the arch of the Bay of Biscay . It has an average length of 1,350 meters and an average width of 40 meters. The beach area is around 54,000 m².
The bay is bounded by the rock massifs of Monte Igueldo and Monte Urgull . The wide arc of the beach with the beach promenade and between La Concha and the mouth of the river Urumea located Parte Vieja and Alderdi Zaharra (German: Old San Sebastián ) are known tourist attractions.
