Playout center

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The playout (or playout center , POC abbreviated to German: Aussendezentrum ) is the central functional unit of the digital television .

A playout center is a broadcasting center that is equipped with high-performance servers and computers . These computers digitize all program content and send the data in the form of data containers to the distribution networks. These can be broadband cable networks , satellite networks, DVB-T networks or other networks (e.g. for the transmission of IPTV ). Several digital TV or radio programs, but also other data (e.g. for MHP ), are combined into a single data stream by multiplexing in the data containers . Coding and modulation of the digital programs are also part of the POC .

In the playout center, the data is saved on hard drives and not, as in the classic broadcasting centers, on VTR devices or video cassettes. The POC is usually with a program provider (broadcaster), several programs can be handled in a POC.
