The Plaza Point ( French Pointe de la Plaza ) is a headland in Admiralty Bay of King George Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is located on the southern tip of the Keller Peninsula , which separates Mackellar Inlet from Martel Inlet .
The headland was mapped in December 1909 during the Fifth French Antarctic Expedition (1908–1910) under the direction of Jean-Baptiste Charcots . Charcot named it after the Argentine politician Victorino de la Plaza (1840-1919), then Foreign Minister and later President of Argentina . The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee transferred the French name to English on September 20, 1955.
