Pleikard Dietrich von Gemmingen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pleikard Dietrich von Gemmingen (* 1689 , † 1757 ) was Palatine-simmerischer bailiff . He benefited from this post as compensation for the loss of Zwingenberg Castle , to which his wife Christine Dorothea Göler von Ravensburg had inheritance claims.

Life

He was a son of the eponymous Pleikard Dietrich von Gemmingen (around 1628 / 29–1695) from his fourth marriage to Philippina Marie von Adelsheim.

In 1711 he married Christine Dorothea Göler von Ravensburg. Since she was a granddaughter of the last Hirschhorn daughter, Pleikard Dietrich and the Göler von Ravensburg family and the Horneck von Hornberg family raised claims to Zwingenberg. Elector Johann Wilhelm , however , gave the Hirschhorn fiefdom to the Counts of Wiser , so that a lengthy process broke out which, for the circumstances, involved enormous sums of money. The dispute finally led to the sale of the Zwingenburg to Baden in 1746 for 400,000 guilders. The Hirschhorn heirs put the damage they suffered at 527,000 guilders. To compensate for the damage, the Elector Pleikard appointed Dietrich von Gemmingen as Oberamtmann von Simmern, with lifelong salaries and with the permission to sell the office to a qualified person at any price.

In 1747 he bought various goods for 9,152 guilders from his brother Franz Reinhard (1692–1751), which he had inherited from their common cousin Johann Adam von Gemmingen (1686–1742).
