Franz Reinhard von Gemmingen (born March 30, 1692 ; † 1751 ) was Baden-Durlach's chamberlain and chief bailiff in Durlach .

Life

He was a son of Pleikard Dietrich von Gemmingen (around 1628 / 29–1695) from his fourth marriage to Philippina Marie von Adelsheim . He entered the service of Baden-Durlach and became a chamberlain and later chief bailiff in Durlach. He was awarded the Order of Loyalty .

Due to the early death of his father, two thirds of Bonfeld fell to him at a young age . The remaining third was jointly owned by the brothers Friedrich Casimir (1694–1744), Reinhard (1698–1773) and Philipp von Gemmingen (1702–1785). Franz Reinhard had his Bonfeld property managed by inventory and administered by a bailiff, he himself lived with his family in Durlach. Nevertheless, from 1718 in Bonfeld he began to build a new castle on the site of the moated castle of Philip the Wise, which was devastated in the Thirty Years War . In principle, he does not seem to have handled his finances wisely and increased his debts through the construction project in Bonfeld. In 1736 the family association decided that Franz Reinhard should offer a quarter of his Bonfeld property to the co-owners for purchase in order to pay off his debts. The purchase was completed for 15,000 guilders on May 9, 1736, and both parties now owned half of the town.

He inherited various goods from his cousin Johann Adam von Gemmingen (1686–1742), which he sold in 1747 to his brother Pleikard Dietrich (1689–1757) for 9,152 guilders .

family

From 1718 he was married to Sophie Helene von Pretlack (1701–1781).
