Plemnaios

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Plemnaios ( Greek  Πλημναῖος = wealth or abundance ; lat. Plemnaeus ) was in Greek mythology the son of Peratos and King of Sicyon .

All of Plemnaios' children died shortly after birth. When Demeter finally came to Sicyon in the form of a woman and raised the Orthopolis as a wet nurse, the latter survived and later assumed the rule of his father. In gratitude, Plemnaios built a sanctuary for Demeter.

Eusebius of Caesarea attributes 48 years of reign to Plemnaios.
