Plymouth Pronto Spyder
The Plymouth Pronto Spyder was an American concept vehicle introduced in 1998. The two-door roadster was powered by a turbocharged 2.4 L, 225 hp (168 kW) 4-cylinder mid-engine with a five-speed manual transmission .
The by Design forth in European roadsters oriented Pronto Spyder had instead of steel a lightweight, made of recycled materials such as PET produced vehicle chassis . So the car only weighed around 1225 kg (2700 lb). The interior was spray-painted red and featured a retro - styled “turtle shell” steering wheel that was later used on the Chrysler 300C .
In order to go into production , the concept might have a. Fulfill safety regulations, have better rigidity of the body (the A-pillar should have been redesigned), freedom of travel for the wheel arch and rearview mirror .
After the dissolution of the Plymouth brand in 2001, Chrysler did not continue this project, so the Pronto Spyder was never mass-produced.
