Poecilimon is agenus of locusts from the family of sickle-fries (Phaneropteridae).

features

With Poecilimon species, the color ranges from almost monochrome green to brightly colored. Green to vividly colored specimens can also occur within a species. Often there is a stripe behind the eyes. This is brightly colored, dorsally dark and can reach over the pronotum . The fastigium is broader to narrower than the scapus . The pronotum is often shiny, smooth, and often rounded dorsally. If edges can be seen on the sides of the pronotum, these are broadly rounded. Usually the sulcus is in front of the middle. In some species, however, it can also be in or behind the middle. The animals are micropter . Females can also be squamipter , the elytra can be almost completely reduced. Cu 2 is hidden in the males. There are some species in which the pronotum is strongly bent up and cut out at the rear edge; Cu 2 can be seen in these. In the males the cerci are very different, on the other hand they are always more or less conical in the females. The ovipositor is always straight ventrally. At its tip it is slightly curved upwards and serrated. The antennae are monochrome or ringed and about three times as long as the body.
