Poi ( French also Poï ) is a village in the Kingdom of Alo , which belongs to France as part of the French overseas territory Wallis and Futuna .
location
The village extends along the east coast of the island of Futuna . In the south of the village is the Roman Catholic Church of Sanctuaire de St. Pierre Chanel and a missionary site for the Missionaries of the Society of Mary (SMSM).
population
The population has been falling for years. In 1996, 326 people lived in Poi, compared to 294 in 2003 and 256 in 2008. As of 2013, 190 people live in the village. Much of the younger population emigrates to New Caledonia .
