Pointer

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In gambling, a pointeur is an opponent of the banker .

Because of certain asymmetries in the rules of most banker games, the punchers are generally at a disadvantage compared to the banker.

etymology

The term comes from the Pharospiel , where the minimum bet was called point (French point). Betting against the bank is therefore also called pointing .

The French word Pointeur changed to the Italian Ponte , the name of the player in baccarat who places the highest bet against the banker, and then to the Spanish punto in punto banco .
