Pokémon Day
The Pokémon Day was a fan meeting for Pokémon poker players, which of Nintendo 2004-2013 year in Germany was organized.
In addition to promoting new Pokémon products, the main purpose of the event was to bring the players together, and Nintendo usually distributed a special event Pokémon that was not available outside of Pokémon Days. The supporting program, which has been moderated by Oli P. since 2009 , consisted of quizzes and a cosplay competition . At some venues, prominent guests also came to give autograph sessions, such as Queensberry at Pokémon Day 2010 in Berlin .
Pokémon Day was mostly held in late summer or fall and visited several major cities for one day each. Pokémon Days never took place during the week, only on Saturdays and Sundays.
Pokémon Day was well received by the media. Photos of the event were regularly published in magazines about anime or video games . For many fans, Pokémon Day had the status of a convention . In 2010 it attracted 70,000 visitors.
From 2014, Nintendo decided to cancel Pokemon Day after ten years. Nintendo started the Pokémon Kids Tour, which introduces the children and newbies to the Pokemon games. In 2015, Nintendo announced another Pokémon Kids Tour. This took place from the end of May to September in nine different German cities. As of 2016, the term "Pokémon Day" was used for the anniversary day of the franchise.
Pokémon Days also took place in other European countries, such as Italy.
The Pikachu bus
From the beginning until 2010, a yellow Pikachu- themed bus was the hallmark of Pokémon Days. In the converted US school bus from 1983, visitors could try out the latest Pokémon games and charge their Game Boy or Nintendo DS .
As the bus was getting too old, Nintendo decided to auction it off for a good cause in 2010. The bus was posted on eBay and generated sales of 5,150 euros. The owner of Sky Automobile near Aachen was awarded the contract . At Pokémon Day in Munich , Nintendo boss Bernd Fakesch personally handed the keys to the winner.
Since then, a silver Pokémon Airstream caravan has been in use as the successor to the bus .
