Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon ( Japanese ポ ケ モ ン 超 不 思議 の ダ ン ジ ョ ン , Pokemon Chō Fushigi no Danjon ) is the fifth offshoot of the Pokémon role-playing game series Pokémon Mystery Dungeon developed by Spike Chunsoft . It was released for the Nintendo 3DS console . As in the previous offshoots of the series, the game is about a person who has been sent into the world of Pokémon and has to explore dungeons and do support missions. The game was released in Europe on February 19, 2016, in North America on November 20, 2015, and in Japan on September 17, 2015.

Gameplay

As in the previous iteration of the series, Super Mystery Dungeon is a rogue-like RPG that includes 3D characters and environments. Players can choose between 20 characters (these consist of the 18 starter Pokémon as well as Riolu and Pikachu ) that their partner (also selectable from the 20 Pokémon) will take on their journey through randomly generated dungeons filled with opponents and traps on the mission To save the world. The game includes all of the 720 Pokémon known at the time of publication.

Game action

The player wakes up as a Pokémon and is attacked. Blanas, a friendly Pokémon, helps him and escapes with him to his home village, Ruhenau. There the player is enrolled in the school. At school, the player meets his partner who dreams of joining the research team in a larger city. They meet its guide, Ampharos, and are made junior researchers and given their equipment. When the attacking Pokémon are spotted near the player, the player and his partner flee to the hustle and bustle, the home of the research team.

Both the player and the partner are accepted into the research team and meet Rabigator, one of the game's antagonists . You will receive reports of fossilized Pokémon. When the research team set off for the old ruins to find out the reasons for the fossilization, the player and his partner (henceforth referred to as the team) learn that Rabigator has made his way to Ruhenau. There they meet Blanas, who climbs the Segensberg with the team, the place that Rabigator visits. During the confrontation with Rabigator, they encounter a sealed spring on the top of the mountain. This can only be destroyed by a person, but suddenly the tide turns and the player is used to break the seal. Then Blanas petrified the team and Rokkaiman. The spring water can reverse fossilization, but was destroyed by Blanas, the new antagonist. In the world of nowhere, where the petrified Pokémon are, the team finds a way out. Back in the real world, they go to the research team and only find Jirachi and Ampharos. With their help they travel to the tree of life, which has been attacked by dark matter. Dark matter is a mixture of negative feelings from all Pokémon. The infestation means that the sun comes too close to the earth and all life is destroyed.

After a few struggles, the dark matter is defeated by the partner's acceptance. After the fight everything turns and the partner tells that in her previous life she was Mew, a legendary Pokemon, and has already lost to dark matter once. This has the consequence that the partner or Mew must now disappear and say goodbye to the player. The game plot ends here. In the epilogue, with the help of Blanas, who is now deeply disappointed and repentant, it is possible to bring the partner back into the real world as an excuse.
