Polar Research Institute of China
Polar Research Institute of China (PRIC, Chinese 中国 极地 研究 中心 , Pinyin Zhōngguó Jídì Yánjiū Zhōngxīn ) is a scientific institute in China that coordinates polar research and supports it with appropriate infrastructure, such as research stations in the Arctic and Antarctic and the icebreaker Xue Long ("snow dragon"). The institute was founded in 1989, its headquarters are in Shanghai , it has 124 employees and Zhanhai Zhang is the head.
The institute, founded in 1989, is significantly involved in the Arctic Yellow River Station in Svalbard (2003) and the Plateau Observatory on Dome A (2007).
