Polica (often written as Polica ) is an American indie rock - band from Minneapolis whose sound by electric and R & B influenced. Special features of the sound result mainly from the parallel use of two drums. The band was formed in 2011 by Ryan Olson and Channy Leaneagh.

Name of the band

Channy Leaneagh stated in an interview that the band wanted to have a unique name and that it came from a computer file that had this name after their computer crashed and restarted.

The Guardian , however, states that it is a Polish word that means urgent action . Another source says that Channy Leaneagh said in an interview that it is the Polish word for politics and she sees it as a symbol of the togetherness of the musicians. However, both statements are incorrect. The Polish translation for urgent action is pilna akcja and for politics polityka . In addition, the letter ç is not part of the Polish alphabet.

First album

The first album, called Give You the Ghost , was released in the US on February 14, 2012. The album was released in Germany on May 11, 2012. Justin Vernon stated in Rolling Stone that it was the best band he had ever heard ("They're the best band I've ever heard.").
