Political wisdom

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The political wisdom doctrine , summarized under the guiding concept of the raison d'être , describes the autonomy of politics, which is not shaped by an ethos of rule .

The term raison d'etat was coined in Italy in the early 16th century by the Florentine historian Francesco Guicciardini , who speaks of "ragione e uso degli stati" in his Dialogo del Reggimento di Firenze (1526). However, the term is mostly associated with Niccolò Machiavelli .
