The Police SV Osnabrück (officially: Polizeisportverein Osnabrück eV ) was a sports club from Osnabrück . The women's handball team played in the Bundesliga for a year .
history
The year the association was founded is not known. In addition to handball, the SV Osnabrück police also offered boxing , fencing , judo and taijiquan . In 2003 there was a merger with the Raspo Osnabrück association , at which the SV Police was dissolved and the members joined the Raspo association.
The women's handball team was one of the founding members of the Regionalliga Nord in 1972 and three years later, third in the table, qualified for the newly created Bundesliga North. At the end of the 1975/76 season , the Osnabrück women had to relegate. On the last day of the match, the team did not get beyond a draw against the hitherto pointless relegated team SC Germania List , while their direct competitor Holstein Kiel also won at UTG Witten . In the following regional league season, the police SV was passed through to the third division and disappeared into the lower divisions.
The men's handball team reached the finals of the Lower Saxony Championship three times in a row between 1957 and 1959. In 1962, the team was relegated and disappeared in the lower divisions.
