The Sport Club Germania List Hannover eV 1900 is a sports club based in the Hanover district of List . It is known for its men's and women's rugby teams, but also has departments for handball , tennis , gymnastics and, previously, lacrosse . The 20,000 square meter sports facility of the SC Germania List offers its members two rugby courts, six tennis courts and a boules court; The association also has an allotment garden on the Mittelland Canal .

history

The club was founded in 1900 as one of the first German rugby clubs. He advanced to the national top in the 1940s when he reached the finals for the German championship in 1942 and 1949, losing both games. This was followed by two more decades without major success. The club's most successful phase was between 1968 and 1980. During this time, Germania won the German championship three times and the DRV Cup four times. The team was particularly strong in the finals: if they reached a final, they won it - there were no final defeats in those years.

In the period that followed, the successes subsided. Although the League Cup was won twice and the DRV Cup for the last time in 2000, there have been no further titles since then. Instead, the newly established women's team became the top team and won the runner-up and the 7-a-side rugby championships twice and was German 7-a-side rugby champions in 2003 and 2004. The school and youth teams were able to win 10 national championship titles and a large number of Lower Saxony championships. In 2015, the club was the German junior (U18) champion in Olympic 7-a-side rugby and for the third time in a row junior runners-up in classic 15-a-side rugby. In addition, around 10 players have belonged to the closer squad of the German youth and junior national teams in recent years.

Rugby department

The department consists of the 1st men's team (1st Bundesliga North) and the 2nd men's team (Regionalliga North). The Germania women play in the German 7er Rugby League.

The department head was last elected in March 2018. Simeon Klaus was re-elected as head of department. He is supported by the deputy department heads Martin Gerlach (men’s division), Janine Kostic (women’s division) and Dirk Bracke as youth manager.,
