The Heidelberg RK became champion with a 39:35 against TV Pforzheim .

Overview

Teams of the Rugby Bundesliga 2016/17

The rugby Bundesliga will be played for the second time in 2016/17 with the new system, which includes eight teams in two seasons. During the regular season, each team plays in the round trip against the seven other teams from the same group. There will be no games against the teams from the other group. This is followed by the play-offs in which the winner of the north / east season plays against the second from the south / west and the winner of the south / west season against the second from north / east. The winners of these two semi-finals are then in the final of the German championship.

The remaining twelve teams take part in the DRV Cup . The last team of each season is automatically relegated to the 2nd rugby league. The two penultimate teams take part in the relegation against the losers of the semi-finals from the second Bundesliga.

The places of the two relegated teams from the 2015/16 season, RU Hohen Neuendorf and ASV Köln , were taken by returnees TSV Victoria Linden and RC Luxembourg .
