In 1967 the rugby section was established at the Post Berlin company sports association . The club has played on a sports field in the Buschallee stadium in Berlin-Weißensee since it was founded . The club has participated in the league since it was founded. In 1978 the club began to work consistently with the next generation. In the 1980s, the team established itself in the top tier of the Oberliga, the first division of the GDR . From 1984 to 1988 they finished third in the championship five times in a row. In 1989 they came second behind the series champion BSG Stahl Hennigsdorf for the first time. Post Berlin was four times in the final for the cup of the German Rugby Sports Association of the GDR . In 1980 they lost the final against BSG Lokomotive Wahren Leipzig, in 1982, 1986 and 1988 against Stahl Hennigsdorf. At the same time, the Posts junior teams were among the strongest in the country. In 1989 the junior GDR champions and cup winners, the youth champions, the A-pupil cup winners and the B-pupil champions and cup winners. In 1990 the league team Post Berlin became the last GDR runner-up and managed to qualify for the Bundesliga. 15 GDR national players emerged from the club .

After the political change, the club initially played in the 2nd Bundesliga. In 1992 honored with the Green Belt of good talent in the club by the Dresdner Bank . In the same year, the first women’s team was founded at Post Berlin. In the mid-1990s, Post rose twice to the Regionalliga, so that three seasons (1996, 1997/98 and 1998/99) played in third class. After relegation from the 2nd Bundesliga in 1995, they were safely first in the Regionalliga in 1996 with twelve wins in twelve games, but were relegated again after only one season. In 1998, Post decided not to go back to promotion despite having had athletic qualifications. Only after another regional league season did the club return to the 2nd Bundesliga in 1999.

In 2003 the rugby section left the Post SV Berlin and founded the independent rugby club 03 Berlin e. V. In the 2004/2005 season the promotion to the 1st Bundesliga was achieved for the first time, but was relegated again after only one season. In the 2007/08 season they were promoted again, so that the RK 03 has continuously played first class since the 2008/09 season . The association was once again awarded the Green Belt for its success in youth work.

In the 2009/2010 season Philip Stevenson coached the first team. Stevenson was previously the coach of SC 1880 Frankfurt and national coach of the German 7-man and U21-15 national team. In 2010 the rugby club 03 Berlin had more than 250 members, including around 80 men in the men's division, 100 in the pupils and youths and 20 women. On May 16, 2010, after extensive renovations, the rugby pitch in the Buschallee stadium was opened . The reopening game against local rivals Berliner Rugby Club was the first victory in ten years.

In June 2013, the RK 03 Berlin hosted the Berlin Sevens, a 7-a-side rugby tournament with international participation, for the first time . The tournament also functioned as an open championship for the regional associations. The titles were won by the teams of the Rugby Association of Baden-Württemberg and the Hessian Rugby Association. In 2014, the club had a women's team in the Regionalliga Ost, three men's teams ( Bundesliga , Regionalliga Ost seasons A and B) and one youth team in each age group.

The rugby club reached the semi-finals of the German championship for the first time in the 2015/2016 season . There he was defeated against the TV Pforzheim in 1834 . Also in the following year he was able to secure participation in the semifinals. Again the Berliners lost against TV Pforzheim and missed the final in their home stadium Buschallee.
