At the beginning of the 1920s, as part of job creation measures to today's Buschallee in Berlin-Weissensee of Lazy Lake Volkspark created, which includes a football and athletics stadium belonged. The stadium was inaugurated on August 25, 1923 with a soccer match between Weißenseer FC and Wacker 04 Berlin . On June 6, 1937, the then Berlin champions Hertha BSC defeated a selection from the Weißensee district 7-0 in front of 8,000 spectators in the stadium on Buschallee . From the 1937/38 season onwards, the stadium, then known as the Kampfbahn am Faulen See , was the permanent home of Weißenseer FC.

On May 27, 1945, the first two football games in Berlin after the Second World War were played in the stadium on Buschallee and in the Lichtenberg stadium. The main users of the stadium were initially the soccer players of SG Weißensee , which in 1949 became ASV Weißensee, in 1953 Blau-Weiß Weißensee and finally in 1956 the BSG unit Weißensee.

The Hohenschönhausener SC also used the stadium during this time. HSC was one of the founding members of the GDR League . The stadium was therefore the venue of the second highest soccer league in the GDR at the time. The stadium was the home of the Hohenschönhauser SC in the league in the seasons 1950/51, 1951/52 and 1955/56.

For the 3rd World Festival of Youth and Students in August 1951, the stadium was renovated and equipped with benches. The football games between Romania and Poland and between Poland and Italy were played in the stadium as part of the World Festival.

In 1956, the stadium was the first stadium in East Berlin and one of the first stadiums in Germany to have a floodlight system. In November 1956, SC Dynamo Berlin played its FDGB-Pokal home game against BSG Progress Meerane here in front of 2,000 spectators .

Current

In the summer of 2007, RK 03 Berlin started planning the expansion of two adjacent spaces in the facility. On the one hand, these should be combined into a double lawn area and, on the other hand, equipped with a floodlight system. However, the construction project was initially delayed due to the necessary approval from the Berlin authorities. In January 2009, the association's application was finally granted, so that construction work began. On May 16, 2010, the course was reopened with the game against the Berlin Rugby Club .
