Achievements of the members

The most successful rugby club in Baden-Württemberg is the Neuenheim sports club, which won nine German championships and six German cup victories with its men and ten German championships with its women. When it comes to youth work, the Heidelberg Rowing Society and the Heidelberg Rowing Club are exemplary with more than thirty German titles each.

The first championships were held in southern Germany from 1900, and in the German championship, which was held for the first time in 1909, FV 1893 Stuttgart reached the final on the rugby pitch at Stöckach, which was just lost 3: 6 to FC 1897 Hannover. Since then, member clubs of the RBW have won a total of 16 German championships - in addition to SC Neuenheim, the Heidelberg rowing club (6), the rowing society Heidelberg (4) and TSV Handschuhsheim. The German women's championship, which has been held since 1988, is a Baden-Württemberg domain: SC Neuenheim has won ten times, and RC Rottweil once.

The same applies to the German University Championships, which have been played since 1982: Here, too, the Baden-Württemberg teams dominate, winning 17 of the 26 titles played so far "into the state". The Heidelberg teams were particularly successful here, winning twelve titles in the first 16 years, but since then have suffered a ten-year lean period. It follows Karlsruhe with three titles and Mannheim with one title as well as the University of Konstanz, which was the last team from Baden-Württemberg to win the title in 2004.

Successes of the selection teams

The RBW selection teams, which often compete with opponents from the big rugby nations Great Britain, France, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa and Argentina, also play a leading role in Germany and have the German national selection championship in 1988, 1993, 1996, introduced in 1986 and won in 1998; since then there have also been four runner-up championships. Due to the performance of the clubs and the selection teams, the RBW makes up a not inconsiderable proportion of the players in the German national teams.
