The rugby club VfR Döhren 06 (Association for Lawn Games 1906 eV) was founded in 1906 as the Strauss Döhren sports club in order to make the sport of rugby known in Döhren. In addition to rugby, table tennis and gymnastics are also offered. The club grounds are located in Hanover's Döhren-Wülfel district in the Eilenriede . The men's team currently plays in the 2nd Bundesliga North in a syndicate with SV Odin .
history
The founding members were Willi and Paul Klingebiel, Andreas and Robert Sermund, Fritz Hamann, Fritz Hoppmann, Ludwig Marsch, P. Berghoff, R. Hoffmann and Albert Ballhause. The new club's first rugby match was lost 3:21 against SV Odin. In 1912 the association settled in Olbersstrasse. After the First World War , it was decided to set up the Association for Lawn Games. V. to rename Hanover-Döhren . VfR Döhren became 2nd class champions in the 1921/22 season. After the Second World War , a rugby team was formed that consisted of players from the clubs VfR, FC Schwalbe and 06 Döhren. On June 29, 1947, FC Schwalbe applied to the British military government for its independence and the players from VfR and von 06 Döhren united to form the new "Club for Lawn Games 1906" under the leadership of 1st chairman Fritz Bock. In 1959, VfR Döhren 06 won the final of the German Rugby Championship with a 10: 5 win over RG Heidelberg and thus, after 1933 and 1934, won their third title.
At the German championships for schoolchildren in 2008 and 2010, the VfR U10 team won the title of German champions.
