The SV Odin from 1905 is a sports club in Hanover , which became famous primarily for its rugby department. The association is named after the main god Odin in Nordic- Germanic mythology . The club, which was founded in 1905 and offers its members various sports from aerobics to hiking , has its playgrounds near the Great Garden in Herrenhausen , at the address An der Graft 1 .

SV Odin was a founding member of the Rugby Bundesliga (1971/72). From 1997 to 2011 the team played in the 2nd Bundesliga North and reached third place in 2006/07. The first men's team has been playing in the Regionalliga Nord since the 2011/12 season.

Success at German championships

The Hanoverians reached the final of the German championship six times. Of the six participations, five were won, four of them to zero.

Petanque

SV Odin Hannover is also a founding member of the German Pétanque Bundesliga (DPB), founded in 2007 . In the founding year, Odin reached 2nd place. At the previous German team championship , Odin won the title twice and was therefore eligible to compete in the CEP EuroCup . In this competition, the team reached the finals of the last four in 2004.

Several current and former players of the pétanque department of SV Odin won in various formations at German pétanque championships and / or achieved good placements. Several of the club's players belong to the national team of the German Pétanque Association .
