history

FC Schwalbe was founded in 1899. Although it called itself a soccer club , it started out as a pure rugby club and never had a soccer department. Its name is derived from the swallows above the training area on the meadows on Hemminger Holz ( flooded today by the Maschsee ), whose quick-reacting flight behavior should be the model for the team's game.

The most successful period of the club were the 1920s and 1930s, in which the three championship titles of 1923, 1926 and 1936 could be won. It was not possible to build on these successes later.

Between 2003 and 2009 the first team played in a syndicate with the second team of the German Rugby Club Hannover .
