Stefan Mau (born February 12, 1989 in Magdeburg ) is a German rugby union player, teacher and former canoeist . Mau is a national player in the German National Rugby Union team .

Career

Mau grew up in his hometown and attended the local sports high school . In his youth he was an active canoeist at the canoe club Börde Magdeburg and then at SC Magdeburg .

society

In 2008 he came to rugby when he joined the Rugby Legion MMVIII Magdeburg sports group, newly founded by his older brother Eric Mau. To study at the University of Kassel , Mau switched to SC Germania List in 2009 , with whom he first played in the 2nd and later 1st Bundesliga . He also trained a student sports group at the university. In the Germania List club, Stefan Mau quickly rose to become a leading player and then become captain. At Germania, Mau will play in the third storm row in the 2017/18 season.

National team

On November 25, 2017, Mau played for the first time in the German national team. Germany lost the friendly game in Offenbach 10:32 against Chile . He made his second appearance on February 10, 2018 in the game against Romania in Cluj (85: 6 for Romania) in the European Nations Cup . Mau was in the starting line-up for the first time and played on position  5 in the second row. On February 17, 2018 he played a third time for Germany. Against Georgia , the selection of the German Rugby Association in Offenbach lost 0:64. Two weeks later, on March 3, 2018, Stefan Mau wore the German national team jersey for the fourth time in Belgium's 69:15 win in Brussels . On March 19, 2018, he played his fifth international match in the 3:57 defeat against Russia in Cologne .
