Pollard font

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Pollard script is an Abugida that was invented by the British missionary Samuel Pollard (1864-1915) for use in the languages of the Miao , particularly A-Hmao . It was created in 1905 and reformed by 1936.

The script is based on the Latin alphabet , but is completely different in structure due to its status as Abugida. It differs from other Abugidas in that the position of the vowel signs is not arbitrary - it indicates the tone of the syllable.

Since version 6.1 of January 2012, the Pollard font has been part of Unicode as a Unicode block Pollard font .
