overview

The Polish Historical Mission was launched on August 1, 2001 with the help of historians from the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Thorn and was based at the Max Planck Institute for History in Göttingen . Its aim was to manifest cooperation between Polish and German historians and also to promote cooperation with scholars from other countries. This concern was successfully implemented by 2008. The closure of the Max Planck Institute for History in Göttingen made it necessary to search for new locations for the mission. At the beginning of 2009, the members of the Scientific Advisory Board decided to move the Polish scientific institution to Würzburg, where previous projects can be continued and new tasks can be carried out.

In September 2009 the Polish Historical Mission opened in Würzburg . It is currently at the Julius Maximilians University there.
