Polyphenylene [poly ( p -phenylene)] |
Polyphenylenes , also poly ( p -phenylenes) , are polymers accessible by dehydrogenative polycondensation of benzene . The oxidative cationic polymerization of benzene with catalytic amounts of aluminum trichloride and copper chloride also gives polyphenylenes.
properties
Polyphenylene are practically insoluble and infusible high-performance materials with a thermal resistance up to 300 ° C .
use
High-quality materials for special applications in electrical engineering and space technology. Polyphenylenes are semiconductors and building blocks for light-emitting diodes .
