PolyWorks is a commercial software package for processing and evaluating optically digitized, three-dimensional data and has been developed since 1994 by the Canadian company InnovMetric Software Inc. from Quebec, Canada. It is mainly used in the areas of reverse engineering , design, quality assurance (especially initial sampling), digital manufacturing, rapid prototyping, archiving of cultural goods and in medical areas.

The PolyWorks software has a modular structure. The individual modules can be assigned to different software packages.
PolyWorks Metrology Suite
PolyWorks | Inspector
PolyWorks | Inspector reads, processes and compares three-dimensional measurement data. Using direct interfaces to laser scanners , coordinate measuring machines , hand-held tactile measuring devices, photogrammetric systems as well as special X-ray and CT devices , high-resolution 3D point clouds can be imported. PolyWorks | Inspector offers the possibility to analyze the recorded data or to compare it with "Computer Aided Design" construction data. Thus, for. B. the quality of components and tools can be monitored. PolyWorks | Inspector is used for the analysis of polygon networks and point clouds, alignment of measurement data, target / actual comparisons, gap flush measurements , automated test sequences, statistical process control / analysis of variance and functions for creating measurement reports.
PolyWorks | Inspector Probing
PolyWorks | Inspector Probing is a modification of the PolyWorks Inspector, specially tailored to tactile metrology. The application supports the process requirements for the measurement and inspection of standard geometries and offers plug-in interfaces to hand-held, tactile measuring devices.

Airfoil Gauge (turbine blade tool) | Suitable for the analysis and dimensioning of wing, propeller and turbine blade profiles. It derives all relevant parameters from predefined sections. Best-fit alignment of target and actual profiles in predefined cutting planes. |
Import modules for CAD files | In addition to the standard CAD formats IGES, STEP, SAT and Parasolid, there are the following optional CAD import modules: CATIA V4 and V5, Inventor, Pro / E, Creo, SolidWorks, Siemens NX (formerly UG), VDA-FS, OpenJT (UGS ). |
PolyWorks | Modeler
Software package for processing point clouds, mesh generation, mesh optimization and reverse engineering. The PolyWorks | Modeler package is suitable for creating uniform polygonal models and NURBS surfaces from point clouds with high density. The software offers polygon model generation for strict polygon production applications, such as milling machines with 3 or 5 axes of motion, aerodynamic simulations and digital verification. In addition, NURBS surfaces can be created from these polygon meshes in PolyWorks | Modeler using a best-fit process. The PolyWorks | Modeler thus covers the task area of reverse engineering as part of the reverse engineering process and consists of the following modules:

PolyWorks | Reviewer is license-free software for the visualization of projects that have been processed with the PolyWorks | Inspector software. No PolyWorks software installation is required to use Reviewer.
