Polykaon (son of Bute)
Polykaon ( Greek Πολυκάων ) is a figure in Greek mythology .
He is a son of Bute , although it is unclear which Bute is meant. He marries Euaichme , daughter of Hyllos and granddaughter of Heracles .
Pausanias mentions him in his report on Polykaon , the eponymous founder and first king of the city of Messene . He writes that during his unsuccessful research into the descendants of King Polykaon and his wife Messene , he came across another man with the same name. There does not seem to be any further connection beyond the identity of the names.
