The Ponape was a schooner of the colonial administration of German New Guinea .

history

The ship was built in 1905 in San Francisco on behalf of the governorate of the German New Guinea colony . The Ponape was named after the island of Ponape in the Caroline Islands . The schooner with an additional motor drive had a measurement of 150 gross register tons .

Already on June 13, 1907, the Ponape in the Hall group in the Karolinen archipelago was lost due to stranding.
