The Hall Islands are an archipelago of two atolls in the central Pacific Ocean , located in the Caroline Archipelago .
geography
The islands belong to the state of Chuuk of the Federated States of Micronesia . The islands are located in the north of the state in the northwestern island region of Oksoritod , 82 km north of the central Chuuk Islands .
The Hall Islands include the Nomwin atolls in the southwest and Murilo in the northeast, which are only nine kilometers apart. The main island is Nomwin Island in the atoll of the same name, with a population of 711 (2000 census). The island of East Fayu , 36 km west of Nomwin, is administratively connected to the Hall Islands, as it belongs to the municipality of Nomwin in the west of the atoll of the same name (one of the four municipalities of the Hall Islands), but is no longer part of the Hall Islands in a geographical sense calculated, but probably in the sub-region of the Halls .
Geologically speaking, the Nomwin and Murilo atolls are those parts of the same seamount that rise above sea level . So they form a double atoll.
