Poppyseed , also called P (p) oppy seed in the literature , is one of the smallest linear measures in the Anglo-American system of measurement . The measure is derived from the poppy seed . The hair width was set equal to the line / line .

A dimensional chain looks something like this:

Calculated in practical lengths:

  • 1 poppyseed = 1 line = 0.00212 meters = 0.00694 feet (US) = ¼ barleycorn (rarely 1/5) = 1/12 inch
    • 1 barleycorn = 0.00847 meters = 0.0278 feet (US) = 1/3 inch
