The Porsuk Dam ( Turkish Porsuk Barajı ) is located on the Porsuk Çayı River , a tributary of the Sakarya , 30 km southwest of the provincial capital Eskişehir in the western Turkish province of the same name .
The Porsuk dam was built as a concrete gravity dam in the years 1966–1972 for the purpose of irrigation , flow regulation and drinking water supply . The dam has a height of 49.7 m above the valley floor and a wall volume of 223,000 m³. The associated reservoir extends into the neighboring province of Kütahya and covers an area of 27.7 km². The storage volume is 525 million m³. The dam is designed to irrigate an area of 26,970 hectares.
