The Porsuk Çayı (ancient name: Tembris or Thymbres ) is a left tributary of the Sakarya in western Turkey .
The Porsuk Çayı rises on the northern flank of the Murat Dağı - in the extreme south of the Kütahya province near the town of Dumlupınar . It flows past Altıntaş in a northerly direction to Kütahya . About 30 km further north, the river is dammed by the Porsuk dam . 40 km northeast of the dam, the Porsuk Çayı flows through the city of Eskişehir . It now flows in the lower reaches 150 km in an easterly direction, past the villages of Alpu and Beylikova , before finally flowing into the Sakarya 20 km northwest of Polatlı . The Porsuk Çayı has a length of 435.8 km. It drains an area of 11,325 km². The mean discharge at the mouth is 16 m³ / s.
