The Porta di Santa Maria Assunta (also called Porta Garibaldi ) is a former city gate of the Italian city of Chioggia . It is located in close proximity to the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta .

The now free-standing gate was built in 1520, was part of the old city fortifications of Chioggias and has been structurally changed several times in the course of history. On the side facing the countryside, it shows the lion of St. Mark on a marble relief, the heraldic animal of Venice as a symbol of the rule of Venice over the city. Until some time ago the gate was red, but today it is yellow. Road traffic moves around the gate today; In the inside of the gate there is a Latin plaque, which reminds of a stay of Pope Pius VI. in Chioggia as well as a decorative plaque with a coat of arms.
