Portal Tomb of Duffcastle
The portal Tomb of Duffcastle is located in the townland of Duffcastle ( Irish Dubhchaisleán ) near Crosserlough in County Cavan in Ireland . In the British Isles, portal tombs are megalithic systems in which two upright stones of the same height with a door stone in between form the front of a chamber that is covered with a sometimes huge capstone.
The collapsed Portal Tomb lies on the eastern slope of a small hill. The approx. 2.4 m long and very thick capstone is tilted to the side because one of the portal stones is missing. The other portal stone lies on the ground and has a length of 1.8 m. The door panel is still there. On the side, there seem to be remnants of the cairn in a field boundary .
