The Porte de Paris (from French porte "gate, door, gate") is a city gate from the 18th century in the French city of Châtillon-sur-Seine . The building is located in the Rue Courcelles-Prévoires north of the center and is since 1950 as a monument historique under monument protection .

history

The limestone city gate was built in 1765 after changing the course of the road from Paris to Châtillon , the old gate called Porte de l'Abbaye no longer corresponded to this new route. The design of the civil engineer Pierre-Joseph Antoine from the province of Burgundy prevailed against that of the architect Léger from the Châtillonnais . The work was transferred to Claude Berthelemot , a building contractor from Chamesson , on May 20, 1763 and was fully completed in 1767.

In the years 1837 and 1838, work on the masonry had to be carried out due to water ingress.
