The Porter Hills are a series of hills in East Antarctic Victoria Land . They rise in an east-west orientation between the Hidden Valley and the Ward Valley in the Denton Hills .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1994 after the electrical engineer Raymond C. Porter of the United States Coast Guard , who died on February 8, 1979 during an unloading maneuver of the icebreaker USS Glacier at McMurdo Station .
