Portmapper

A mapper or Port planner takes in information technology, the coordination by the client desired function calls.

It is the mediator between the program numbers , which are used by Remote Procedure Call (RPC) as identification for individual RPC servers, and the TCP and UDP port numbers. The portmapper assigns the service number of a client to a port .

Under Unix , it accepts connections on port 111 by default.
